On the outer edge of the Norwegian coast

Built layer by layer in Sunnmøre.

Every HoneyLamp is built where it was drawn. Not in a factory, not in large runs – but slowly, one at a time, over more than 24 hours.

The place

Where evening comes early.

Sunnmøre sits on the coast, between mountains and sea. From October onwards the afternoons are dark long before the day is over, and the weather does the rest: low cloud, rain and wind that can settle over the landscape for weeks at a time.

HoneyLamp is drawn into that reality. It is not made to give the most light, but to make a room somewhere you want to be when it is dark and grey outside.

The process

From drawing to packed lamp.

Six stages. Well over a day per lamp, all told.

  1. Drawn

The geometry is drawn layer by layer before anything is built. The distance between the layers decides how the light is broken – and so how the lamp feels once it is on.

  2. Built

The shade is built up from the bottom in PLA-based bioplastic, layer over layer. The process takes more than 24 hours per lamp. It cannot go faster without the structure losing its precision.

  3. The wood

The wooden top and suspension are fitted by hand. The wood gives the lamp weight in its look and a warm transition towards the ceiling.

  4. Electrical

Italian electrical components are fitted and wired. E27 socket, 230 V, dimmable with a dimmable bulb.

  5. Checked

Every lamp is checked and tested before it leaves the studio. We look at the surface, the suspension and whether the light spreads as it should.

  6. Packed

The lamp is packed to survive transport and shipped with tracking. Keep the packaging – you will need it for an exchange or return.
